Introduction

Infectious diseases are one of the leading causes of death worldwide and nowadays more than 15 million people per year die for this reason. One of the most important and extended infectious disease in the world is HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) with its derivation to AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome).

From the moment the virus and the disease were discovered, HIV has been one of the main nightmares in laboratories and research centres around the world, at the same time as it has also been and is one of the biggest epidemics in the world; and that is why it has always been tried to investigate and to know this virus to the maximum, because its diversity of types and difficulty in eradicating it, make it a great problem for human health.

In recent years, the number of deaths and infected has fallen sharply, especially if it is compared to the origin of the disease, although the last year the number has increased a little. However, it is still working so that the mortality rate should be lower each time. On the other hand, many of the patients are receiving an antiviral treatment that makes the virus to be controlled and thus lead a normal life.

The election of HIV / AIDS to carry my research work out has been greatly influenced by the fact that science has been very present in my life. Since very little I have been interested in her as well as in research, and I have had an interest in investigation and laboratories; and for that reason I have been considering doing this investigation work since a time ago, because I wanted to inform myself more about this virus, especially from a much more scientific and technical perspective, and thus to know it in a greater depth, because maybe in the future I am working at a research centre trying to find a vaccine to prevent it or cure the disease.
